This is a very unique African Bakota mask. It appears to be wooden with a cover of strips of brass and copper. The exact metal content is unknown. Initial research indicates that this may be a Guardian mask, used to guard the remains of loved ones who have passed on. I am by no means knowledgeable of this type of art, so that information can be incorrect. It is an interesting piece though and a great conversation piece. It is very sturdy and very well made.
